The Bill Arishenkoff Trades Scholarship
Bill Arishenkoff, the founder of Bill’s Heavy Duty, was a supportive and helpful business person and employer. We created this scholarship to honour his legacy which is awarded to students pursuing a career in the trades.
Preference is given to students pursuing a career as a Commercial Transport Technician, Heavy Duty Technician, Commercial Vehicle Driver (Class 1), or Autobody Technician/Refinisher.
Awards are $500 per recipient and there is one available for each of the 11 high schools in the region. This includes School Districts #20, #8 and #10.
In 2022, the inaugural year of the scholarship, we had 3 successful applicants and decided to award each of them $1,000.
In 2023, we had 8 successful applicants and awarded each of them $750.
In 2024, we were pleased to have 6 successful applicants and once again awarded each of them $750.
As part of our work, we continue to advocate and promote trades careers, hosting school tours and participating in career-based events whenever possible.
